In the Zagórz commune area there are places, where some time ago were wide and numerous villages. Unfortunately they have desolated from different reasons and still stay unpeopled. They are:


CHOCEŃ

A village raised most probably in 15th century. In past there was a church under the invocation of ? Pokrow Preswiat Bohorodice? Father Laurecki visiting the temple in 1807 wrote in the documents that it had been raised in 1772 (...) ? in three topps? (domes), and that it was in a good condition this time. It was 13 m long, 7 m wide and 10 m high. The building survived till 1870 when there has been raised a new church.

SUKOWATE

A village lying by the Tarnawka river (Osława?s tributory). It was surrounded with woody hills on west, south and east side. On eastern side Sukowate bordered Roztoki, on western Side ? Turzańsk and on southern ?west Kamionki. Some time ago in the village there was 18th century church under the invocation of St. Archangel Michael. It was about 14 m long, 6 m wide and 9 m high. In 1826 a new church was been raised. On the turn of 19th century the village numbered about 47 homesteads with 324 citizens, mostly Greek Catholics. This time the village was a part of count Edmund Krasicki?s property.

KAMIONKI

A village situated about 17 km on west from Baligród. There was a Greek Catholic church in the village, raised 1641. On the turns of centuries Kamionki numbered 229 citizens, mainly Greek Catholics. This time village was a part of count Edmund Krasicki?s property.



ZAWADKA MOROCHOWSKA

A village lay in the valley of a stream called Broniec (left ? bank tributory of the Osława river) . From the western and northern side surrounded with woody hills. On the turn of 19th century Zawadka numbered about 202 citizens, mostly Greek Catholics. This time the village was a landed property of Antoni Lichowiecki.
