Previously a Wallachian village that was mentioned already in 1483. During the 'Wisła' action the village was completely destroyed and its citizens displaced.
In past- war years the village has been rebuilt and resettled. In the time period from 1836 to 1839 in the grange of Ksawery Krasicki there farmed Wincenty Pol - a popular poet, prose writer, excursionist and geographer. He was professor in Poland?s first chair of geography at the Jagiellonian University. He wrote a lot of literary pieces with a patriotic subject matters, among them: 'A song of Janusz', 'A song about our land' and a knight?s rhapsody 'Mohort'. As mentioned before, at the end of 1836 he settled in Kalnica. Here he got married Karmelia Olszewska.
The time Pol spent in Kalnica, was a period of a very hard and productive work connected with a research work. At his suggestion there were roads, bridges and sawmills' rising. At the same time to keep up his excursional passion he penetrated into the Bieszczady area. The outlines 'Pictures of nature's life' were the result of numerous excursions. Pol actively participated in village?s life with composing disputes, helping needy people. Despite all this, local society did not have every confidence in him. For many, he was still a perfect stranger, so after two years of living in Kalnica, he moved with his family to Lesko at first, and then to Glinnik close to Gorlice. Unfortunately there?s nothing left after Pol?s residence called ?A grand manor?. It has been destroyed after last war?s ending.
